AMY POWNEY

Amy Powney is a UK based fashion designer, creative director and activist living in London. Having started working at Mother of Pearl in 2006, Amy worked her way up to eventually take the helm as Creative Director until stepping down in December 2024 to launch AKYN.

In 2017, Amy won the BFC / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, enabling her to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment and transform the way we engage with fashion.

This trailblazing mission formed the subject of Fashion Reimagined, an award nominated independent documentary released in cinemas and across streaming services globally in 2023. It was also the subject of her TED talk How To Fix Fashion And Protect The Planet, delivered  in Detroit at TED Countdown 2024.

Now as Creative Director and partner of AKYN, Amy is able to use her voice and expertise on a wider scale, creating deeper impact and striving for continued and meaningful change within the industry.

Creative Director Amy Powney's bestselling collaboration with sustainable jewellery pioneer Monica Vinader is back for a third chapter.

The five new designs, crafted in 100% recycled gold vermeil and ethically-sourced pearls, are inspired by the unique beauty found in nature. Each piece of jewellery champions asymmetry in design and the organic forms of one-of-a-kind Keshi pearls.

This collaboration also features the first garment, a considered take on a classic button down shirt, made out of 100% regenerative cotton or washed black TENCEL™ Lyocell and Keshi pearl cufflinks.
